Study thoughts

It's been nearly 2 weeks since I arrived in Australia and I'm getting to the stage where I'm not sure to whom I've told which story! Thankfully I keep moving on, so hopefully on-ones bored of talking about collaboration, measuring the benefits of agricultural marketing and wider discussions around previous efforts to improve the image of the industry.

So far the following 'useful' facts have been re-enforced/learned:

1. Collaboration doesn't come easy to either UK or Australian ag industries
2. Be clear on the scope and aims of any collaborative works to avoid disappointment and disengagement at a later date
3. Keep to the plan unless agreed by all
4. Have a transparent, agreed way of measuring the benefits
5. Communicate the benefits to interested parties regularly
6. Reduce conflicts of interest and competition by having a third party in charge
7. Everyone loves the idea of improving the image of the whole industry, even those who are a step or two away from the end user/city dweller
8. An independent arbitrator is useful to reduce competition pressures when forming an alliance.
There are others, but they're swimming around in my head in need of further distillation before publication!
