Not only have the Americans established a US Farmers and Ranchers Alliance (USFRA), they also have a group called Centre for Food Integrity (CFI).
From an outsiders perspective, there seems to be much overlap, although it's apparent that CFI tend to represent the food processors and retailers as well as the agricultural sectors such as dairy, pork and poultry.
CFI has been around since the 1990's and has built up an armoury of frontline PR work in that time.
I am due to meet with the CEO of CFI on Friday to clarify their role especially in the light of the recent creation of USFRA.
My sincere thanks go to Roma Britnell, the 2011 Australian scholar who put me onto the CFI.
Roma's topic has synergy with mine and is called "What's the Value of Agriculture?".
