Contracting

Here in the US, contracting out management activities and projects is the norm for agricultural industry organisations.

There are some 500 "Association Management Companies" globally, providing everything from "full service" to specific project management.

For industry organisations run by farmers, this is a fantastic opportunity to let the people with the appropriate experience manage the day to day admin of the business and implement strategic plans, especially if the farmers are voluntarily managing organisations. The farmers then simply direct and control business as a board, to which the contractors are wholly accountable.

One such "Association Management Company" is Drake and Co of St Louis. They have been operating since 1992 and now employ 25 people, managing some 11 clients as well as running single hit projects for others.

This is an industry in itself, with an accreditation system.
